About Eva
Eva Swanson lived at 3417 Webster St. from the time she was born in July of 1926 until she downsized to an apartment in 2009 at the age of 83. She lived another 13 years, continuing to enjoy travel, friends, church and social activities until the last few months of her life. She passed away November 27th, 2022 at the age of 96.
Among many other hobbies and volunteer activities, Eva was our neighborhood historian, documenting neighborhood events with pictures and saving articles about Gifford Park and its people. She wrote a booklet of neighborhood history and made scrapbooks, and was herself a living source of history, having been around for almost a century before her death.
Eva was always delightful and full of surprises small and large, inspiring and bringing joy to those around her. Her last and most unexpected surprise was a substantial donation to the neighborhood she loved, Gifford Park. Her gift allowed us to create a new website and digitize much of the Gifford Park recorded history. We dedicate this work in her memory, honoring the legacy she and others like her left to our little corner of the world.
